Important Announcements

Due to the annual Sisterhood of the Traveling Canes retreat trip this month, there will be no calls from June 14th to June 24th to allow all traveling tier members time to prepare for travel and decompress after they return home. Calls will resume on June 28th.

Membership Renewal

A graphic reading “Come Join the Sisterhood” in pink and gold lettering. Four women of diverse backgrounds stand together with their arms around one another, facing a city skyline at sunset. The image is decorated with soft pink flowers, hearts, and gold accents, and includes the themes “Support,” “Empower,” “Connect,” and “Thrive.” A tagline at the bottom reads, “Different journeys. One purpose. Stronger together.”

It is almost that time ladies! Every July 1st, we accept applications for active Sustaining Sisters to join the Traveling Tier membership. This membership is only for members who have shown great effort into being a part of the Sisterhood and has showcased the values we hold near and dear to us. A sister who shows up, is present, involved, and is a true friend to others. Traveling Tier members will have exclusive access to our personal group chat, weekly calls, workshops, gift exchanges, and information about our annual Sisterhood retreat trip for 2027. Once your application has been approved, we will reach out to you personally to welcome you into the Traveling Tier, and you will be directed to where you can pay your $100 membership due for the year. This is a one time payment for the upcoming year. Payments may be broken up into 3 installments. Please let us know if you require a payment installment.

Please note: if you have not been informed personally by one of the founders that you are a Traveling Tier member, please do not send your payment. Your payment will be returned to you until you receive an acceptance notice.

If you are wanting to join the Sisterhood of the Traveling Canes, or was not accepted into the Traveling Tier for this year, you may join the Sustaining Sister tier. This gives you access to our weekly calls and group chat on Facebook. This membership is $20 per year. If you remain an active Sustaining Sister, you could be eligible to become a Traveling Tier member when renewal opens up next July.

We are dedicated to empowering, uplifting, and supporting all blind and visually impaired women through the power of friendship. All friendships require a give and a take. We pour so much of ourselves into our members and simply ask you to return the same effort. That is how true friendship and bonds are made every week. We are excited about this new year with you all!

Sister Spotlight

Javiya, this month’s Sister Spotlight winner, stands smiling at a celebration event. She is wearing a black dress and glasses, with long braided hair, and is surrounded by blue and silver balloons and festive decorations in the background.

This month, we celebrate our sister, Javiya. Not only has she brought her own incredible and insightful personality to the Sisterhood, but she did an outstanding job rallying up so many donations for our 50/50 raffle fundraiser in April. She truly went above and beyond to help the Sisterhood raise money for our organization and was a crucial part of blessing another individual with half of the money that was raised. We cannot thank you enough for what you did Javiya. We hope you shine bright this month!

June Birthdays

Happy birthday to our sisters: Whitney (June 5th), Holly (June 13th), and Jesstina (June 16th). We want to wish all of you a special happy birthday, and may this year bring you abundance, joy, and new opportunities! Happy birthday to anyone else celebrating this month as well!

Travel Tips

A fun, feminine travel-themed graphic on a soft blush pink background. The words “travel tips” appear in large, playful script lettering, with “travel” in bright pink and “tips” in navy blue, both outlined in white. A pink airplane flies above the text, leaving a dotted heart-shaped trail. Decorative pink hearts and accent marks surround the lettering. A pastel pink suitcase with travel stickers sits on the left, while a mint-and-pink globe on a gold stand appears on the right. The overall design is cheerful, stylish, and geared toward travel content aimed at a feminine audience.

With June being our annual travel time, here are a few travel tips from the Sisterhood of the Traveling Canes.

1. Label luggage with braille, tactile markers, ribbons, or bright colors.
2. Keep medications, chargers, and important items in a carry-on bag.
3. Pack a portable charger or extra batteries for devices.
4. Did you know many airports and airlines offer free assistance services? You can request: Guided assistance through the airport, help locating gates or baggage claim, early boarding, assistance during layovers, and transportation support between terminals

Asking for accommodations is advocating for your independence.

5. Use GPS and accessibility apps when helpful.
6. Travel with a friend if that feels safest for you.
7. Allow extra time — rushing increases stress
8. Trust your orientation and mobility skills.

Final Remarks

As we enter the summer season, remember that wellness is not about doing everything perfectly. It’s about caring for yourself while enjoying life’s journey. Whether you are traveling across the country or across town, may this summer bring you confidence, connection, rest, and beautiful new experiences.

With love,
